Dieu Cay has been on day 37 of hunger strike, police continues to buy time

Danlambao - As of today, July 29, 2013, blogger Dieu Cay Nguyen Van Hai has been on his hunger strike for 37 consecutive days in Prison No. 6 in Thanh Chuong, Nghe An Province. The communist regime continues to conceal all information about the health status of the blogger.

This morning, several bloggers joined Mrs. Duong Thi Tan and her son Nguyen Tri Dung at the Inspectorate Office of the Ministry of Public Security to demand an immediate investigation.

After making a hard trip under heavy rain to that office, the family could only receive a message that says "the application has been forwarded to the Comrade General Director of Police Enforcement and Judicial Support office for review and guidance." Again, this is a dodging tactic to buy time and evade responsibility of the police inspectorate office.

Shortly thereafter, the family took the notice signed by Colonel Vuong Xuan Dong and travelled under heavy rain to the headquarters of the Police Department No. 8 - Police Enforcement and Judicial Assistance office, which responsibly manages all detention centers across the country. According to the notice, the complaint was forwarded to Lieutenant General Cao Ngoc Oanh, the head of this office.

However, Mrs. Duong Thi Tan and her son were stopped by police at the office entrance. After 30 minutes of fierce complaining under heavy rain, the guards allowed them to enter the office to meet a receptionist, Mr. Nguyen Van Dien.

After an hour working with the receptionist, Ms. Duong Thi Tan and Nguyen Tri Dung could only obtain a receipt written by the receptionist as follows.

"Today, July 29, 2013. I, the receptionist of General Department VIII of the reception office of the Department, received the request of Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung to meet the General Director General regarding the complaint of prisoner Nguyen Van Hai, who is serving the prison sentence at Prison No. 6. I have reported it to his leadership. The leader is travelling this week. When it fits the leader’s schedule, Mr. Dung will be informed.”

The mother and son walked out the office in frustration. Their faces were filled with confusion, anxiety and worries for the unknown fate of blogger Dieu Cay.

Behind the suspicious silence are dodging tricks of police offices. What has caused the authorities to behave in such a way?

The fact that Cao Ngoc Oanh, a powerful police Lt. General, has to use the reason of ‘travelling’ to shirk responsibility fills public opinion with more speculation that something wrong has happened to blogger Dieu Cay.
