Breaking news: Son of prisoner of conscience Nguyen Xuan Nghia banned from exiting

Phạm Thanh Nghiên (Danlambao) / Translate by Như Ngọc (Danlambao) - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, 26, son of prisoner of conscience Nguyen Xuan Nghia, is currently detained at Tan Son Nhat Airport.

Reportedly, Thuy was accepted for resettlement in the United States. While the staffs of the International Organization of Migration were guiding Thuy with customs procedures, the airport security informed his name is on the list of people banned from exiting Vietnam.

At least two airport security officials, Mr. Le Duc Tho, shield No. 003 582, and Mr. Le Hong Thai, deputy airport police, are directly working on his case.

The reason for the ban is said to be made upon the request of Hai Phong police.

Thuy missed the flight scheduled to depart at 11 p.m. and his passport was confiscated. The airport security office said Hai Phong police will explain the case and made no further comments.

A few years ago, Thuy was banned from leaving the country for studying in Australia.

The case of Thuy’s resettlement in the United States is in full compliance with the laws of Vietnam, the United States of America, and International laws.

The illegal actions of Tan Son Nhat airport security and Hai Phong police in preventing Thuy from exiting and seizing his passport clearly violate the civil liberties of citizens. Once again, the right to freedom of movement of citizens of Vietnam is seriously violated.
