A Signature for Vietnam Human Rights 2015

WFHRVN (Nhanquyen2015.net) - The upcoming date of April 30th, 2015 will mark the fortieth commemoration of the Vietnamese Communist Party’s exertion of their power over the entirety of Vietnam. Throughout their time in power, the communist government of Vietnam has never shown their interest or implement the rules of respecting the basic human rights of their citizens. In contrariety, the Vietnamese government authority has been using a wide variety of tactics from violence to sophisticated conspiracies to suppress individuals and non-governmental organizations for their action in demanding these basic human rights. Although the persecution by the communist government of Vietnam has not succeeded in eradicating the democracy and human rights movements. There are more and more individuals, civic organizations, religious associations expressing their political views on such matters.

On March 12th of 2015, twenty-seven organizations including civic groups, religious associations, and media outlets, joining hands with one hundred sixty-three individuals from inside Vietnam and abroad. Together, initiated a campaign to petition with the United Nations and foreign diplomats asking for support from the international community for the human rights protection and democratic movement in Vietnam.

The globalization of commerce in conjunction with bleak economic indices from Vietnam truly signifies the importance of supports from the international community. Achieving democracy and human rights through economic pressures is one of the critical strategies for the Nonviolent Action in Vietnam.

The purpose of this campaign is to collect 100,000 (one-hundred thousand) signatures on this petition. After two weeks of initiation, there have been more than eleven thousand people endorsing the petition. As a contribution to this common cause, Women For Human Rights in Vietnam (WFHR) cordially asks for your support, to sign this petition and pass on the words to your friends and family. For more information on this petition, please visit www.nhanquyen2015.net. This website contains links to the petition and instruction on how to endorse with your name. The logo of this campaign is “WE ARE ONE”.

We truly hope that all democracy-loving and human rights respecting individuals will join in this ONE unity to demand the basic human rights for yourself, your family, and the people of Vietnam.

April 9, 2015

Sincerely,

Lanney Tran
