China’s land plots in Da Nang: Even Deputy Chief Commander is denied entry

Danlambao’s reader - With regard to China’s discreet land buys at important locations in Da Nang, former Deputy Chief Commander (5th Military Zone), Major General Tran Minh Hung, emphasized that these all are “top secret, inaccessible” areas.

In an interview with Zing online newspaper 22nd December, 2015 General Hung claimed he himself was not admitted to a resort built by the Chinese in Da Nang.

“I was Deputy Chief Commander of the 5th Military zone in 2006. One day, an official, while on a business trip to Da Nang, stopped by and stayed at a coastal resort in here. Dressed in a military uniform, I arrived at the hotel to visit him. However, I was immediately stopped at the gate by some staff members saying “You’re a military officer, so you’re not admitted.”

Asked why, they said the hotel was reserved for foreigners only, so I couldn’t walk in. Even a military general like me was banned from walking in,” said General Hung. “How can locals or tourists enter these hotels? The question is whether foreigners just stay there (as tourists) or they’re up to something else?”

The general was concerned about the possibility that once those plots of land have been legalized, China will send its citizens to the area; they will then settle down there, giving birth to children and then their children would... in Da Nang. By that time, these areas will run the risk of becoming a China’s town.

So far, the Chines, concealing their true identity with locals’ help, have discreetly managed to buy off 246 plots of land in the coastal area in Da Nang, according to the State media.

These areas are deemed by authorities as strategically important in terms of security and defense. What’s more, some are right next to Nuoc Man military air base, whose activities easily come into view from several nearby high-rise buildings constructed quickly by the Chinese.

Those already in the hands of the Chinese, according to Nguyen Dieu, Chief of Da Nang Service of Resources and Environment, are essentially located along the coastal areas belonging to Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts.

Considering the land area and grand scale of the constructions, these Chinese-built blocks can accommodate as many as hundreds of thousands of people.
