Nhật Minh (Danlambao) - This morning, July 31, 2013, more than 15 bloggers and facebookers joined Mrs. Duong Thi Tan and her family at the headquarters of the state-run Cong An Nhan Dan Newspaper at 100 - 92 Yet Kieu, Nguyen Du street, Hanoi City, to protest against its publishing of the article “Debunking ‘the hunger strike trick’ of Nguyen Van Hai” by Vu Dai Phong on July 29, 2013. The article is a blatant lie aimed to distort the truth and defame the hunger strike of blogger Dieu Cay.
One day earlier, a call for the protest surfaced on the Facebook social network: "At 9 am tomorrow morning, 07/31/2013, Mrs. Tan and Tri Dung will go to the headquarters of Cong An Nhan Dan (People’s Police) Newspaper to meet and confront with the chief editor and journalist Vu Dai Phong. So please be informed and arrange your time to join and escort the mother and son. Best regards.”
Early morning, a large security force was mobilized to guard the headquarters. Despite of their presence, the family of Mrs. Duong Thi Tan and the bloggers held the banner that reads "Opposing People's Police Newspaper fabricated information about Nguyen Van Hai (Dieu Cay)" to protest against the said article and demand to see the chief editor, Col. Pham Van Mien, and the author, Vu Dai Phong.
Attempting to shirk responsibility, a representative of the Newspaper met and vaguely told the protesters “The chief editor Pham Van Mien is out of the office and Vu Dai Phong Vu is on a busy business trip in Central Highlands, the rest of us are not responsible with the issue..."
As of today, blogger Dieu Cay has been on the hunger strike for 39 consecutive days and the communist regime of Vietnam still doesn’t make any official notification to the family of Mrs. Duong Thi Tan.
