Nhu Ngoc (Danlambao) Translated - The prisoner of conscience Ta Phong Tan has now been on her hunger strike for 25 days without any signs of ending.
Ta Minh Tu, Tan’s younger sister, is very worried about the health conditions of her sister.
Since the last visitation on June 03, 2015, the family has not received any information about Tan from Prison No 5 in Thanh Hoa.
That prison’s regulation allows Tan to call home 5 minutes per month. This month the family has not received any calls from Tan, and it implies Tan is still on her hunger strike.
Tan is suffering many serious illnesses such as heart disease and high blood pressure, thus engaging on a prolong hunger strike is very dangerous for her life.
In a recent conversation with Danlambao, Tu said Tan is very frail due to this hunger strike to protest against oppressive actions from prison officials.
“My sister Tan said she would continue to be on hunger strike to death,” Tu said.
Reportedly, Tan is currently in solitary confinement in a tiny room amid weather in Thanh Hoa is extremely harsh. Therefore, if the worst situation happens, Tan would hardly be rescued on a timely manner.
It is worth to be recalled that in December last year, Mr. Vu Hong To, a Falun Gong practitioner went on a hunger strike to protest the imposed sentence of 5 years imprisonment. His hunger strike was unknown to the public; therefore, the Vietnamese communist regime heartlessly let the victim starve to death. The tragic death of To is an urgent warning alarm about the increasing level of brutality in communist prisons.
We, those who love freedom and democracy should speak out and take urgent actions to prevent such a tragedy from happening to blogger Ta Phong Tan, one of the bravest women of the current movement for democracy in Vietnam.
