Như Ngọc (Danlambao) - At 4:30 this afternoon, May 10, 2014, about 20 young people currently living and studying in Vinh City suddenly held a protest against China at Cua Lo, Nghe An province.
The protest took place for more than 15 minutes before a security force of about 30 police and regime-hired security guards confiscated protest banners from protesters.
Without the banners, the young protesters defiantly continued their protest by yelling the slogans: "Down with the Chinese invasion," “Paracel Islands and Spratly Islands belong to Vietnam,” "China must get out of the East Sea."
Reportedly, this protest is to boost the morale among the public for a large protest scheduled for tomorrow at Vinh City in solidarity with other national protests planned on the same day.
Earlier, upon arriving at Cua Lo beach, the protesters were arbitrarily stopped for a search by more than 20 regime-hired security guards under the command of 2 police officers and some protest banners were confiscated by the guards.
The source said the entire security force of Cua Lo town, Nghe An province, was also ordered to deal face to face with the anti-China demonstrators.
It is expected that young people of Vinh City will stage another anti-China protest tomorrow, May 11, 2014, at Ho Chi Minh Square in Vinh City. The rally is scheduled to take place simultaneously with the ones in Saigon and Hanoi in responding to the call for staging patriotic demonstrations from 20 civil society groups and associations.
