Police of Vinh City caused troubles to those who support family of blogger Dieu Cay

CTV Danlambao - Today, July 30, 2013, police in Vinh City summoned Ms. Pham Thi Kim Chi, a Good Samaritan who has been helping relatives of blogger Dieu Cay during their stay in Nghe An Province for visiting the blogger in Prison No. 6 in Thanh Chuong and filing complaints with the People's Procuracy of Nghe An Province.

Since family members of Mrs. Duong Thi Tan arrived in Nghe An, Ms. Pham has been providing them with room accommodation, catering and transportation in Vinh City. As a result, Ms. Pham received a notice from Vinh police, summoning her to police headquarters in Vinh on July 31, 2013, to "work on issues related to security and order."

Talking to a Danlambao reporter, Ms. Pham said: "At 9 am this morning, Vinh police served me the summons and told me to sign it, but I refused to sign because I did not do anything illegal."

Reportedly, Ms. Pham is the sister of prisoner of conscience Nguyen Dinh Cuong, who was sentenced by communist authorities of Hanoi to 4 years in prison and 4 years of probation for allegedly "attempting to overthrow the People's administration" under article 79 of the Penal code of Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cuong is currently detained at K2 - Nam Ha Prison Camp in Kim Bang, Ha Nam Province.

Ms. Pham Thi Kim Chi also told the reporter about the current condition of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoa, who was stabbed on lower abdomen with a strange object by a group of masked police women outside the courthouse on May 23, 2013. "My mother is being treated at the Division of Endocrinology of Nghe An General Hospital. She is very weak and I am caring for her in the hospital. She also has diabetes. Since the police women stabbed her on the appeal hearing of brother Nguyen Dinh Cuong on May 23, 2013, in Vinh City, my mother's health has been getting weaker," she said.

Discussing the pointless summons, Ms. Pham Thi Kim Chi said "I was surprised by this summons from Vinh police because I did not do anything illegal, I do not understand the reason for issuing that summons. Maybe, because of I have helped family members of Mr. Dieu Cay. And if that's the reason for Vinh police to summon me, then I strongly oppose it, and I will continue to help Mrs. Tan’s family as well as relatives of those who are seeking for justice and the truth. It's a human conscience and the fundamental freedom rights of the people of Vietnam. I will continue to fight for it."

Thus, the Ministry of Public Security has officially made it difficult for those who help family members of blogger Dieu Cay to support them on the tough road seeking for justice. The Ministry of Public Security directs provincial police to carry out its plans on political cases. It is the first time Vinh police issued such a summons to Ms. Pham Thi Kim Chi.

Blogger Dieu Cay has been on the hunger strike for 38 consecutive days. Mrs. Duong Thi Tan has been going to many places and offices seeking for help without any results. Currently, the state-run media has been organizing a propaganda marathon to attack the hunger strike event of blogger Dieu Cay - Nguyen Van Hai, in which the Cong An Nhan Dan (People’s Police News,) the official newspaper of the Ministry of Public Security run by Colonel Pham Van Mien as chief editor, is the front runner.
