A cry for help from the prisoner of conscience Ho Thi Bich Khuong

Nguyễn Trung Tôn - Translated by Như Ngọc (Danlambao) - On Jan. 26, 2014, Nguyen Trung Duc, the only son of prisoner of conscience Ho Thi Bich Khuong, visited his mother at No. 5 Prison in Thanh Hoa.

Upon returning home, he told me that his mother is currently very weak, thin and pale. According to his account, the untreated broken collarbone has induced too much pains for his mother. Suffering the pains, she has refused to do labor works. As the result, prison police have instructed other inmates to attack her brutally and repeatedly. In January 2014 alone, some of her inmates, who are drug addictive, have beaten her twice. During the short visit, she had been unable to tell her son all the troubles that have happened to her in prison because 4 police were monitoring them all the time. She ask people to pray and voice their support for her.

Ho Thi Bich Khuong was arrested the third time on Jan. 15, 2011, accused of "spreading propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" under Article 88 of the Penal Code, and sentenced to 5 years in prison and 3 years of probation. Her family situation is very difficult because her husband passed away leaving a young son, who is attending a continuing education program in Nghe An province.

Her son is worried that his mother might die in prison because the bone fractures often cause high fever. In addition, she has been gang attacked repeatedly. The remaining two years in prison looks extremely dark for her.

With all due respect, I ask international human rights observers and democracy advocates at home and abroad to voice support for her.
